Your Backlink Profile at a Glance

The Backlink Dashboard gives you a complete snapshot of any domain's backlink profile. See authority score, total backlinks, referring domains, follow/nofollow breakdown, and link dynamics — all without opening a single detailed report. Use it to benchmark a competitor's link profile or monitor your own site's link health over time.

What you can achieve:

  • Assess domain authority instantly: See SDR and referring domain count side by side — the two core signals of link-based authority for any site.

  • Track link profile health over time: SDR history and new/lost backlink charts show whether link building efforts are gaining ground — or whether the profile is eroding.

  • Spot toxic risks early: The malicious domain count surfaces harmful inbound links before they compound into ranking problems.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to Backlink Analysis → Backlink Dashboard in the left sidebar.

  2. Enter a domain (e.g., example.com) into the search bar.

  3. Click Search. The dashboard loads all key metrics immediately.

  4. Scroll down to review the dynamics charts — linking domain and linking page trends for the past 6 months.

  5. Check the New and Lost Backlinks chart to spot any sudden drops or spikes in link activity.

  6. Use the Recrawl Tool (upper right) to trigger fresh data collection for up to 500 URLs per day.

Key Metrics Explained

  1. SDR (Serpstat Domain Rank): Authority score from 0–100 based on the quality and volume of referring domains. A higher SDR signals a stronger, harder-to-outrank domain.

  2. SDR History: A 6-month trend chart updated every two weeks. A rising curve means the domain is gaining link authority. A drop warrants investigation into lost referring domains.

  3. Referring Domains: The total number of unique domains linking to the analyzed site. This is typically a more reliable authority signal than raw backlink count.

  4. Redirecting Domains: Domains that fully redirect to the analyzed domain, passing link equity in the process.

  5. Malicious Domains: Referring domains flagged as harmful using the same detection method as Google Chrome. A high count is a risk signal worth investigating.

  6. IP Subnets: The number of unique class C subnets among referring domains. A wide subnet spread signals a more natural, diverse link profile.

  7. Backlinks: Total number of individual links pointing to the domain. Uses an accelerated calculation — values may differ slightly from the detailed Backlinks report.

  8. Follow / Nofollow: The percentage breakdown of links by attribute. A natural link profile typically contains a healthy mix of both.

  9. New and Lost Backlinks: A weekly chart showing link gains (green bars) and losses (red bars) over the past 6 months. The fastest way to spot link building momentum or link erosion.

  10. External Domains / External Links: Domains and individual pages that the analyzed site links out to. Useful for auditing your own outbound link profile.

Pro Tip: Benchmark a Competitor's Link Velocity

The SDR number tells you where a competitor stands today. The dynamics charts tell you how fast they are moving.

  1. Run the Backlink Dashboard on your closest competitor.

  2. Check the Linking Domain Dynamics chart — is their referring domain count rising, flat, or falling over the past 6 months?

  3. Run the same check on your own domain and compare the trajectory, not just the current totals.

  4. The goal: A competitor whose referring domain count is declining is becoming more beatable — even if their current SDR is higher than yours. Velocity beats volume over time.

⚠️ Important: The Dashboard draws from Serpstat's 1.1 trillion backlink index. Headline metrics use an accelerated calculation for speed — for exact counts, open the detailed Backlinks or Referring Domains reports. The Recrawl Tool lets you manually refresh data for up to 500 URLs per day; unused recrawl credits do not carry over.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between Referring Domains and Backlinks?
A: Referring Domains = the number of unique websites linking to you. Backlinks = the total number of individual links across all those domains. One domain can have dozens of pages each linking to your site — all count as separate backlinks but as one referring domain. Referring domains is the stronger authority signal for most analyses.

Q: Why does the Dashboard show a different backlink count than the detailed Backlinks report?
A: The Dashboard uses an accelerated calculation algorithm for display speed. The detailed Backlinks report uses precise counts. For audit work, always use the detailed report.

Q: What should I do if I see a high Malicious Domains count?
A: Open the Malicious Sites report to identify exactly which domains are flagged. You can then decide whether to disavow those links via Google Search Console or request removal from the linking site.

Next Steps

  • Referring Domains — Analyze every domain linking to the site, with SDR scores and referring page counts.

  • Malicious Sites — Review all harmful inbound links and decide which to disavow.

  • Backlinks — See every individual link pointing to the domain with full anchor, type, and attribute data.
