Spy on Any Domain's Google Ads Creatives

The Ads Examples report shows you the actual text ads a domain is running in Google Ads — complete with headlines, descriptions, display URLs, and the keywords triggering each ad. Use it to benchmark your PPC messaging against competitors and borrow proven copy formulas.

What you can achieve:

  • Analyze competitor ad copy: See exactly which headlines and descriptions your rivals are using to attract paid clicks.

  • Find high-converting message patterns: Ads that have run for a long time are likely working — they're worth studying and adapting.

  • Identify keyword-to-message alignment: See which keywords trigger which ads to understand how competitors structure their ad groups.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to Site Analysis → Ads Examples in the left sidebar.

  2. Enter a competitor domain and select your regional database.

  3. Click Search. The report displays all detected ad creatives for that domain.

  4. Click on any ad to expand it and see the keywords that trigger that specific ad.

  5. Use the search bar within the report to filter ads containing specific words or phrases.

Key Metrics Explained

  1. Ad headline: The clickable title of the ad. Google Ads allows up to 3 headlines — studying competitors' choices reveals their value proposition priorities.

  2. Description: The supporting text below the headline. Good descriptions drive CTR — look for patterns in how competitors address objections or include CTAs.

  3. Display URL: The URL shown in the ad (may differ from the actual landing page URL). Often includes a keyword for relevancy signaling.

  4. Keywords: The search queries that trigger this ad. Expanding an ad shows which keywords it's matched to in that region.

Pro Tip: Build a Swipe File from Competitor Ads

The best ad copy already exists — your competitors have been testing it. Here's how to harvest it systematically.

  1. Run Ads Examples on your top 3 competitors.

  2. Look for ads that appear across multiple competitors — if several rivals use similar messaging, that framing resonates with the audience.

  3. Export all ads to a spreadsheet and tag them by message type: price, benefit, urgency, social proof.

  4. The goal: You now have a validated set of copy formulas to test in your own campaigns — without starting from a blank page.

⚠️ Important: Serpstat collects ad data from its regular SERP crawls. Ads running in very targeted campaigns (specific devices, times, or audience segments) may not always appear. Use this report for strategic benchmarking, not as a complete real-time ad audit.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why does a domain show no ads even though I know they're running Google Ads?
A: Serpstat may not have crawled that domain's ads in the selected region recently, or the ads may be running in a highly targeted manner (specific audiences, times, or devices). Try switching to a different regional database.

Q: How current is the ad data?
A: Ad data is collected during Serpstat's regular SERP crawls. It represents a snapshot of what was running at the time of the last crawl — not necessarily what's running right now.

Q: Can I see the landing pages these ads point to?
A: Yes — use the Ads Landing Pages report (next in the sidebar) to see the destination URLs associated with a domain's PPC campaigns.
