Capture Real-Time Keyword Ideas from Autocomplete
The Search Suggestions report pulls autocomplete data in real time from Google, Amazon, and Perplexity (US only) — showing you exactly what users are actively typing as they search. These are the freshest keyword ideas available, reflecting current trends, seasonal spikes, and emerging topics that may not yet appear in historical keyword databases.
What you can achieve:
Discover trending keyword variations: Autocomplete reflects actual user behavior right now — ideal for timely content, product launches, or rapidly evolving niches.
Find long-tail opportunities missed by other reports: Search Suggestions often surfaces very specific long-tail queries that haven't built up enough historical volume to appear in keyword databases yet.
Research Amazon and Perplexity search behavior (US): For e-commerce and AI-driven searches, the Amazon and Perplexity sources reveal how users search outside of traditional Google.
Getting Started
Navigate to Keyword Research → SEO Research → Search Suggestions in the left sidebar.
Enter your seed keyword and select your regional database.
For US database: use the source toggle to switch between Google, Amazon, or Perplexity suggestions.
Click Questions only to filter results to question-form queries (great for FAQ and featured snippet content).
Select keywords with checkboxes and click Operations to copy or export your list.
Key Metrics Explained
Keyword: The autocomplete suggestion exactly as it appears in the source. These are real queries, not database constructs — use them verbatim in content titles and headings.
Volume: Historical average monthly searches where available. Very recent or niche suggestions may show low or no volume data even if actively searched.
CPC: Cost-per-click for the suggestion — available where Serpstat has paid data for this keyword.
Source: Google, Amazon, or Perplexity — the platform where users typed this autocomplete query.
Pro Tip: Build a Content Calendar from Autocomplete in Minutes
Search Suggestions is the fastest way to generate content ideas directly tied to real user demand.
Enter your main topic keyword and click Questions only.
Scan the results for question patterns — "how to", "what is", "why does", "best way to". Each unique question pattern can become a standalone article or FAQ section.
Export the filtered list and group questions by sub-topic — each group becomes a content cluster.
The goal: 30 minutes of Search Suggestions research can produce a 3-month content calendar of articles directly answering what your audience is asking right now.
⚠️ Important: Amazon and Perplexity sources are only available for the United States database. Export and Bulk Export are not available when Amazon or Perplexity is selected — switch back to Google source to export your keyword list. |
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How often is the Search Suggestions data refreshed?
A: The report is generated in real time — each search pulls fresh autocomplete data at that moment. This is what makes it uniquely valuable for capturing trending terms.
Q: Why do some suggestions have no volume data?
A: Autocomplete suggestions can be extremely new or niche, without enough historical search data in Serpstat's database to calculate a reliable volume estimate. The suggestion is still valid — Google is actively autocompleting it.
Q: What's the difference between Search Suggestions and Search Questions?
A: Search Suggestions includes all autocomplete variations (statements, questions, comparisons, etc.). Search Questions is specifically filtered to show only question-form queries — those beginning with who, what, where, when, why, how, etc.
