Which External Sites Does Your Domain Link To?
The External Domains report shows every external domain that the analyzed site links to, along with the count of pages on your site that carry those outgoing links. It is the domain-level summary of your outgoing link profile.
What you can achieve:
Spot over-linking patterns: See at a glance whether your site concentrates too many outgoing links on a single external destination — a pattern that can look unnatural during a manual review.
Identify partner and affiliate domains: See which external sites appear most frequently in your outlink profile and verify they are properly attributed with Sponsored tags.
Cross-check against malicious destinations: Export this list and compare it with the Malicious Sites acceptor view to find outgoing links pointing to flagged domains.
Getting Started
Navigate to Backlink Analysis → External Domains in the left sidebar.
Enter a domain (e.g.,
example.com) into the search bar and click Search.Sort by External Pages descending to see which destinations your site links to most frequently.
Apply the quick filter Domains with new links per week to spot recently added outgoing domain relationships.
Use the Only subdomains or Only domains without subdomains quick filters to segment by domain type.
Click Export to download in CSV, XLS, or XLSX.
Key Metrics Explained
External domain: The destination domain that your site links to.
External pages: The number of pages on the analyzed site that contain at least one link pointing to that external domain.
Pro Tip: Cross-Check Outgoing Domains Against Malicious Sites
Your site may be inadvertently linking to flagged destinations — a two-minute check can prevent a potential manual action.
Export the full External Domains list as CSV.
Open the Malicious Sites report and switch to Malicious acceptor domains view. Export that list.
Compare the two exports. Any domain appearing in both lists is a destination your site links to that is also flagged as harmful.
Remove or tag those outgoing links with
rel="nofollow"as soon as possible.
⚠️ Important: External Domains shows destination sites at domain level. For individual link details — including anchor text, link type, and attribute — open the External Links report. The Recrawling URL Tool lets you request a manual re-check of up to 500 URLs per day. Credits are not charged. Unused daily credits do not carry over. |
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why would I want to reduce links to a specific external domain?
A: Concentrating too many outgoing links on a single domain can look unnatural and may attract scrutiny during a manual review. It also distributes link equity unevenly across your pages.
Q: Can I see individual links within a specific external domain?
A: Yes. Go to the External Links report and use the "Target page" filter — enter the external domain name to see every individual link pointing to it from your site.
Q: How do I export the data?
A: Click Export to download in CSV, XLS, or XLSX. Connect your Google account in Settings to export directly to Google Sheets or BigQuery.
