See Who Owns Your Niche — and How Their Rankings Are Trending
The Competitors report in Rank Tracker maps the competitive landscape for your tracked keyword set. It shows every domain that appeared in the Top 100 Google results for your project keywords, ranked by traffic share, keyword count, or average position — so you can see exactly who is winning and by how much.
What you can achieve:
Identify your real organic rivals: Not all SERP competitors are obvious. This report surfaces every domain competing for your exact keyword set — including ones you may not have been tracking.
Track competitor trajectory over time: Monitor how competitor traffic share, keyword count, and average position change across the graph period to spot who is growing and who is losing ground.
Analyze paid competition: Switch to the Paid view to see which domains compete for your keywords in Google Ads alongside organic results.
Getting Started
Navigate to Rank Tracker → [your project] → Competitors in the left sidebar.
Select a metric to analyze: Traffic Share, Keywords Quantity, or Average Position using the toggle above the graph.
Check up to 10 domains in the table to add them to the comparison graph.
Use the Datepicker to set the analysis period.
Apply the tag filter to analyze a specific keyword segment — e.g., only keywords tagged "Blog" or "Commercial".
Switch the toggle to Paid to analyze competitors in paid search instead of organic.
Key Metrics Explained
Traffic Share (%): Each competitor's estimated share of total traffic among all domains that appeared in the top 20 for at least 2 project keywords. Use this to assess your market position.
Keywords Quantity: The number of project keywords for which a domain ranks in the Top 100. More keywords = broader exposure in your niche.
Average Position: The average of the best positions across all project keywords for each domain. Lower = better overall ranking.
Competitor graph: A line chart tracking the selected metric over time for up to 10 selected domains. Use it to spot trend shifts, not just snapshots.
Pro Tip: Use Tags to Find Niche-Specific Competitors
A competitor who dominates one keyword segment but is absent from others is a niche leader worth studying separately.
Assign tags to your keywords by topic, intent, or product category in Project Overview.
Apply the tag filter in the Competitors report to see who competes for that specific segment — not the entire keyword list.
Identify the top domain in that segment and open it in Site Analysis → Keywords.
Download their keywords and filter for queries where your domain does not yet rank — that is your content gap list.
⚠️ Important: The Competitors report surfaces up to 100 competing domains per project. To track specific competitors' positions alongside yours, add them in Settings → Competitors. Tracked competitors appear highlighted in the Project Overview and SERP History reports. |
❓ Frequently Asked Questions

A: Yes. Configure PPC tracking in project settings under Search Regions by adding the required SERP type. Then switch the toggle to Paid in the Competitors report.
Q: How is Traffic Share calculated?
