Your Domain Intelligence Dashboard

The Overview report is your command center for any competitive or self-analysis in Serpstat. Enter any domain, subfolder, or URL and instantly see its authority score, estimated organic traffic, keyword count, and direct competitors — before diving deeper into any individual report.

What you can achieve:

  • Benchmark any competitor in seconds: Get a full-picture snapshot of a rival's organic footprint without clicking through multiple reports.

  • Track your own domain growth: Monitor how your Visibility and SDR trend over time as your SEO efforts take effect.

  • Map the competitive landscape: The built-in competitors chart shows who the major players in your niche are — and how they stack up against you.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to Site Analysis → Overview in the left sidebar.

  2. Enter a domain (e.g., example.com), subfolder (e.g., example.com/blog/), or specific URL into the search bar.

  3. Select your target regional database (e.g., Google US) from the dropdown.

  4. Click Search. Results appear immediately.

  5. Use the date range selector (top right) to compare historical data or track changes over a specific period.

Key Metrics Explained

  1. SDR (Serpstat Domain Rank): Authority score from 0–100 based on the quality and volume of the domain's backlink profile. Higher = harder to outrank.

  2. Visibility: How prominent a domain is across all its ranked keywords, weighted by search volume. A rising line means gaining positions on high-traffic queries.

  3. Estimated Traffic: Predicted monthly organic visits. Use this to benchmark competitors whose Google Analytics you can't access.

  4. Organic Keywords: Total keywords for which the domain appears in the Top 100. A large number signals broad topical coverage.

  5. New / Lost Keywords: Keywords recently gained or dropped from the Top 100. A spike in "Lost" often signals an algorithm update impact.

  6. Competitors Chart: A bubble chart plotting rivals by Visibility (Y-axis) vs. keyword count (X-axis). Domains in the top-right corner are your most significant organic competitors.

Pro Tip: Find Your Highest-Priority Rival

Not all competitors deserve equal attention. Use this workflow to find the one most worth studying.

  1. Scroll down to the Competitors Chart in the Overview report.

  2. Focus on domains in the top-right quadrant — high Visibility AND high keyword count.

  3. Click any bubble to jump directly to that domain's full analysis.

  4. The goal: This competitor ranks for the most relevant queries in your niche. Their keyword list is a content roadmap for your SEO strategy.

⚠️ Important: Estimated Traffic and Visibility are calculated from Serpstat's keyword database — they will always differ from your actual Google Analytics numbers. Use them for relative comparison between domains, not for internal reporting.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is my actual traffic higher than Serpstat's estimate?
A: Serpstat calculates based on keyword rankings and search volumes. GA captures everything: direct, social, email, and long-tail queries outside Serpstat's database. Use Serpstat estimates to benchmark competitors, not to replace your own analytics.

Q: How often does Overview data update?
A: Major databases (US, UK) update roughly every 1–2 weeks. Smaller regional databases update less often. For real-time position tracking, use Rank Tracker instead.

Q: A domain shows 0 Visibility — is that an error?
A: Usually not. It means the domain is brand new, penalized, or doesn't rank in the Top 100 for any keywords in Serpstat's database for the selected region. Try switching to a different regional database.

Q: Can I analyze a specific subfolder instead of the whole domain?
A: Yes — enter the subfolder path (e.g., example.com/blog/) directly in the search bar. All metrics will be scoped to that section only.
