Map Your Search Rivals
The Competitors report reveals every domain fighting for the same keywords as your target in organic search. Unlike a simple list of business rivals, this report is based purely on keyword overlap — giving you a data-driven picture of who you're actually competing against in the SERPs.
What you can achieve:
Identify your real competition: Find domains that share your keyword space, even if they're not obvious business rivals.
Benchmark at a glance: Compare visibility, estimated traffic, and authority scores for all rivals in one table.
Spot emerging threats: Track when new competitors enter your keyword space before they become a serious problem.
Getting Started
Navigate to Site Analysis → Competitors in the left sidebar.
Enter the target domain into the search bar and select your regional database.
Click Search. The report loads a ranked list of competing domains.
Use the filters at the top of the table to narrow by SDR range, traffic level, or common keyword count.
Click any competitor domain to jump directly to its full Site Analysis.
Key Metrics Explained
Common Keywords: The number of keywords where both domains appear in the Top 100. The higher this number, the more direct the competition.
Visibility: How prominent the competitor is across all its ranked keywords. Compare this with your own to see who dominates the niche.
Estimated Traffic: Monthly organic visits estimate. Use this to gauge how much you stand to gain by outranking a competitor.
SDR (Serpstat Domain Rank): Authority score from 0–100. A competitor with a much higher SDR will be harder to displace in search results.
New / Lost: Domains that recently entered or exited the competitor list — useful for spotting fast-moving rivals.
Pro Tip: Find the Weakest Competitor Worth Targeting
Not every competitor is equally hard to beat. This workflow finds the ones where you have the best shot at winning traffic.
Sort the table by Common Keywords (descending) to find your closest rivals.
Apply a filter: set SDR lower than your own domain's SDR.
From this filtered list, click through to each competitor's Keywords report.
The goal: You'll find high-overlap domains with lower authority — these are the ones where better content can move you past them quickly.
⚠️ Important: Competitors are ranked by keyword overlap, not by industry category. News sites, aggregators, or large portals may appear as top competitors if they cover your topic area. These SEO competitors are still valuable — their content strategy is worth studying. |
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why are some listed competitors clearly not my business rivals?
A: The report is based on keyword overlap, not industry classification. A Wikipedia page or a news site covering your niche will appear if it ranks for the same queries. These "SEO competitors" are still useful — they reveal which topics and keywords matter in your space.
Q: How many competitors are shown?
A: The report shows up to 100 top competing domains. You can export the full list for deeper analysis.
Q: How is this different from the Keyword Gap report?
A: Competitors gives you a ranked list of rival domains. Keyword Gap lets you pick specific competitors and find the exact keywords they rank for that you don't. Use Competitors first to identify rivals, then Keyword Gap to uncover the specific opportunities.
Q: Can I track when new competitors appear?
A: Yes — the New label in the table flags domains that recently entered your competitor list. To get ongoing alerts, add your domain to a Rank Tracker project.
